Pakistan Independence Day | A Short Story

Pakistanis are celebrating independence day with traditional excitement and national spirit. Muslim of sub continent fought to be free of British rule and later re-armed to battle for their own nation-state (Pakistan). After the British put down the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Crown assumed full control during the British Raj period. This lasted until Pakistan’s independence in 1947. The Mountbatten Plan split Pakistan (comprised of West and East Pakistan) from India, creating an independent Muslim nation. This day is an occasion to promote patriotism and national unity. Independence Day is a public holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and schools and most businesses are closed.
