University of Chitral, a non profit public university was established in 2017. The university in located in District Chitral, a largest district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. There were two university campuses currently operating in district Chitral i.e. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Sheringal (SBBU) Sub Campus at Chitral, and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) Sub Campus Chitral. The strength of the campuses is growing over period of time.
University of Chitral will act as “Regional Education Corridor” for Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia via Wakhan Strip, Gilgit Baltistan and Gilgit-Chitral, Dir, Malakand alternate CPEC Route.
