Pakistan extends lockdown until 30 April

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday announced another two-week extension in an ongoing lockdown following rising numbers of coronavirus cases in the country. In meeting with National Coordination Committee, after consulting with other provinces prime minister of Pakistan has decided that the ongoing lockdown wil continue untill 30th of April.

Traders, however, rejected the extension, and announced to resume their businesses from Wednesday. Trade associations from three provinces — southern Sindh, southwestern Balochistan, and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) — on Tuesday announced that they were going to reopen their shops, and markets. Whereas, traders from Punjab — the country’s most populous province — has demanded partial reopening of businesses.
