The Dow University of Health Sciences is one of the oldest public sector universities, founded in December 2003. It is located in the urban metropolitan area of Karachi, Sindh. The Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has been developing tradition of excellence in education, research and community service. The university comprises two health sciences undergraduate research institutes: Dow Medical College and Dow international Medical College. The University also has a department of Postgraduate studies which monitors various basic medical sciences and clinical sciences programs at DUHS.
Background
The Dow Medical College was established in 1945 and the university was named after its founder, Sir Hugh Dow.
Programs
It is known for its strong emphasis on economics biomedical, health, and medical research programmes. It is ranked among the top medical schools by HEC in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. The institution offers undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes in almost all academic disciplines relating to medical sciences.

Training and Workshop
Students have opportunities to participate in the hands on training workshops and professional trainings offered by the Professional Development Centers (PDC) of the university, which are fully equipped with manikins, simulators, simulating ICU, and operation theatre, along with providing other equipment and simulations for the training of postgraduates.
