In early 80’s the basic construction of the building of Baqai Medical College was started by Dr Fareed Uddin baqai. In 1988, a medical college was started. After four years, in 1992 a dental college was also started, the first dental college for the whole city of Karachi. Later in 1996, it was converted to Medical University. Courses offered in Baqai Medical University are in medicine, dentistry, health management sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and veterinary science, and there are interdisciplinary courses.
