The Jamrud Fort is located beside Bab-e-Khyber at the entrance to the Khyber Pass (Pak-Afghan border) 17km from Peshawar, district of Khyber KPK, Pakistan. It was built by the Sikh General Hari Singh Nalwa in the 1836 to strengthen the Sikh base at Peshawar for further advances into Afghanistan via the Pass. Later, Hari Sindh was killed by the Afghan forces. The walls of the fort are 3m (10 feet) wide.
Jamrud was a strategic location and served as a base for a cantonment of the British Indian Army during the period of the British Raj.
The fort is in control of Pakistan Army and it is not allowed to take pictures.
