Bagh-e-Jinnah is a historical park in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. It was also known as Lawrence Gardens. It was designed and layed out in1862 on the pattern of Royal Botanical Garden, Kew, England. The Gardens were originally named after Sir John Lawrence, who was the first Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab. After Pakistan’s independence during the 1980s, it was attributed to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of the country and its name was changed to Bagh e Jinnah (Jinnah’s Gardens). The beauty of Bagh-e-Jinnah is a feast for the eyes of nature lovers. It is not only a public and recreational park but also a biggest Botanical Gardn of Pakistan.
It is enriched with alot of varieties of trees, plants and flowers. It has almost 150 varieties of trees, 140 types of shrubs, 50 types of creepers, 30 palms, almost 100 succulent and about same indoor along with almost all varieties of annual flowers. It is a place where flowers bloom, birds sing and rich treasure of flora shows its shine at its peek for a person blessed with heart.
It is a large park housing a library, open-air theater, a restaurant, sports facilities like tennis courts, Cricket ground, extensive lawned areas, and a zoo at the northern end. The best bet for running is the 1.8 km (1.1 mile) Jogging Track, located next to the iconic Quaid-e-Azam Library.
