Pehli Kiran School is a project of Jamshed Akhtar Qureshi Education Trust since 1995. It has been bringing a ray of hope into the lives of out-of-school, street children, especially girls, through free and quality education. For over two decades, the Pehli Kiran Schools, an initiative of Jamshed Akhtar Qureshi Education Trust (JAQ), have been helping underprivileged children be kids again, learn and grow, and dream of a better future. Largely through individual philanthropy, some CSR support, and crowd-funding, we raise funds for children who rightfully deserve the opportunity of a brighter tomorrow.
Pehli Kiran School
Pehli Kiran Schools (PKS) take children off the street and puts them in school. Over 15,000 children have been enrolled since its first school opened in 1995, with a track record of 90% pass rate on government board exams. The unique features of the PKS model, which respond to the specific needs of these communities, set us apart from other initiatives: high-quality academics, strong co-curricular programs, flexible operations, and an innovative mobile infrastructure that moves with communities when evicted. PKS packages these distinctive features into one of the lowest-cost education delivery models in Pakistan, ensuring the highest return on every donated penny.
