Rawat Fort is an early 16th century fort in the Pothohar, 17 km east of Rawalpindi, Punjab. It is located on Grand Trunk Road. The fort was built to defend the Pothohar plateau from the forces of the Pashtun king Sher Shah Suri. it’s has beautiful landscape and huge square boundary including old wells and three big dome shaped mosque.
In the center of the fort there are many graves, among them is the tomb of Sultan Sarang Khan. His 16 sons, who were died also buried inside the fort.
The archeologists dicovered 2.2 Million year old stone tool from Rawat. At one time this was the oldest stone tool in the entire world till an older one was found in an African country.
