Mangla Dam is situated on Jhelum river in the Mirpur district Azam Jammu & Kashmir operated by Water & Power development. It is the seventh-largest dam in the world. The village of Mangla, which sits at the mouth of the dam, serves as its namesake. The design was started 4 years before the construction started in 1957. In November 1961, Binnie & Partners, a British engineering firm, were going to serve as the lead designers, engineers and inspectors for construction of the dam. It was completed in almost 6 years in 1967. It’s cost was $1.47 billion.
